Flight of the Holy Family Celebration Report, January 12, 2010

Some in this “City of Immigrants” took time recently to pay attention to some immigrants who are often overlooked … but who just may be the most famous migrants in the world. They’re the Holy Family. At St. Fortunata Parish in Brooklyn, the Igbo African Catholic Community celebrated the flight of the Holy Family into Egypt – and paused to consider the meaning that event has for us today.

Patroness Prayer

Mary, Our Mother of Africa,
hear the drumbeat of our prayers.
May Your Son Jesus
continue to bring us joy,
receive our tensions,
and forgive us our sins.
Help us to walk in His light.
Help us to help others to do the same.
And bring us to life everlasting,
With the Holy Saints and Angels.
